ruby & i met ava & her mom, becky, at the daycare ruby & ava go to. they have been together, since the beginning, all the way back to the "pear room". :) sadly, they aren't in the same room right now but since becky & i quickly became friends, we all see each other outside of daycare & work hours. last weekend, we played with ava while becky had a work obligation. we had so. much. fun. !!!! the girls were great together, talking to each other, playing together, bickering back at forth at times, & basically having the time of their lives. it was fun to see, for sure. after becky came back, we all went to the craft store & then noodles & co for lunch. pretty much the perfect day with our very good friends. mama/daughter double date for the win!
and here are some shots of the little lady's play date:
a good refrain: here are ponderings on the sweet spots in my life - family, music, my husband Terence, our two goofball kids - Ruby & Landon. I’m an advocate for rare diseases and a social worker so those themes may pop up from time to time, too.

mama's day
happy (belated) mother's day, y'all! i hope you all had a beautiful day celebrating your moms (and being celebrated if you're a mama yourself). we had such great weather, got to spend some time with family, a good friend, and catch a ball game. mother's day ftw!
i didn't really take pictures at brunch in the morning. we went to 'firefly urban bar & grille' in wauwatosa, just outside of milwaukee. the brunch buffet was just okay, which was kinda a bummer b/c we kinda live for brunch. but the atmosphere was really nice, the sun was shining, and it was lovely to visit with T's family and celebrate the moms.
after brunch, we headed straight over to miller park to catch the brewers/cubs game, as was my request for mother's day. i was super excited because it was ruby's first ball game. we picked her up a brewers hat and she rocked it, i must say (of course). she really seemed to have so much fun - clapping when everyone clapped and yelling when everyone cheered. and of course, she entertained everyone around us, which was especially nice since the brewers lost. and to the cubs. which makes it even worse. but it was a perfect day for a ball game and i had a great time.

my very good friend, michelle, also met us at the game. it was so stinking great to have her there. we don't get to hang out anywhere near as much as we used to and haven't been to a game together in a couple years, so that made the day extra special. she is my closest friend and like family to me. ruby likes her, too. in the bottom right picture, ruby was dancing with michelle. some other fun moments: ruby was highly entertained by the birds and planes that flew over the stadium (the roof was open) and she got her own seat while T scored us some hot dogs and ice cream. such a big girl.

june showers bring ... july baby eli!

today, ruby & i made the trip down to buffalo grove, just outside chicago, for my friend hillary's baby shower. well, i should say that we made the trip b/c my wonderful hubs drove us down, made himself busy during the shower, then picked our butts back up! it was a big help, as i was a little nervous driving for over an hour without any help. ruby, of course, was great for the majority of the ride, but it's still always great to have time with T. anyway, i digress.
hillary is expecting a baby boy, who will be named eli, in july. i am psyched that ruby will have a little buddy to play with right around her age. and even more psyched that it's going to be hillary's baby. :) hilla (as i call her) and i have been friends since second semester my freshman year at UWM. we were instant friends and grew very close over the years that followed. we lived together for several years and my greatest memories from college almost always include her. i never would have guessed that hilla and i would be pregnant at the same time and have babies so closely together, but i am absolutely thrilled about it. and beyond excited for her. knowing how fulfilling our life with ruby is now has made me all the more excited for hilla to experience it and for us to be able to become moms at the same time.
the shower was a great time! her mom, sister, and aunts hosted it for her, danielle, and jeff, and it was fantastic! there was a monkey theme that you could not miss -- it was monkey madness! welcoming people, great conversation, and most of all, just great to get to see hillary so beautifully preggers and happy. this kid is going to have wonderful parents.
